Is it legal to write on or mark currency?
We don’t recommend or encourage defacing NZ currency in any way. The definition of illegal defacement is covered on the Reserve Bank of New Zealand website under Subsection 28: http://www.rbnz.govt.nz/currency/money/0094129.htm
Do you have a Privacy Policy?
CashTrack will never sell or disclose your email address or personal information to anyone.
Do I need to enter the serial numbers in Caps?
The serials numbers are not caps sensitive. Our system will convert them.
How does this website make money?
This website is setup to be a bit of fun. Our income is derived from advertising space and is used to help pay for our site hosting and bandwidth costs. However you can donate to this site if you feel so inclined.
Where did you come up with the idea for this site?
We got most of our inspiration from the brilliant WheresGeorge.com website which tracks US bills. They’ve been going since 1998 and are still going strong.

Will I be notified if a bill I have previously entered gets a hit?
It wouldn’t be much fun if we didn’t! If you have entered a bill (while logged in to your account) and it gets re-entered, we will email you to notify you. Note: If you enter a bill as a guest, we cannot notify you when it gets another hit.
Do you take any responsibility for me getting addicted to adding notes into CashTrack?
To use an infamous Kiwi saying… yeah, nah, we don’t.
I just entered some notes, but they show up with dashes in the middle. Did they get entered correctly?
Yes, they have been stored with the entire serial number. The serial numbers are masked to prevent other people from seeing your bills and entering them, causing fake ‘hits’.
Can I delete a bill that I have accidentally mis-entered?
Not yet! But we can, let us know if you need help
Are you creating an iPhone Application so I can enter my bills on the move?
This is on our wish-list however it costs money to make an application like this. You can help us by telling all your friends about our website or by making a Paypal donation from the homepage.
Can I enter a stack of bills at once rather than one at a time?
Sorry, we’ve tried to make the entry process as pain free as possible but we can’t support entering several bills at once.
Do you support Foreign Currency Tracking?
We’d love to but every country has different rules regarding currency. Please see our Links page to see the list of similar websites.
I’ve got a suggestion on how to improve this site. How can I contact you?
We’d love to hear from you. Please write to us at: info@cashtrack.co.nz. Remember, this is a hobby site so we may take a little while to get back to you. All your feedback is read and appreciated.
Got any tips for getting more hits?
- Obviously lower value notes get used more so are more likely to get hits. That being said, a $100 note usually leads a more interesting life so it’s well worth entering them too.
- The more people you tell about CashTrack, the more people will be entering notes.
- The more notes you enter, the more hits you will get. Some of our users enter over 100 different notes per month!
- Spend your entered bills at retail stores. Banks don’t recycle the notes as much as, for instance, a dairy.
